An e-bike subscription is a monthly rental: you pay a fixed fee to use an electric bike that stays the property of the operator.
Most subscriptions cover the bike itself, scheduled servicing and repairs from normal use. After that it varies a lot: insurance, theft cover, battery swaps, GPS and roadside help may sit inside the monthly fee or be billed separately. Read what each fee actually buys before comparing headline prices.

Almost no operator covers misuse. Damage beyond fair wear, lost accessories, traffic fines and theft through negligence, such as leaving the bike unlocked, stay with you. Some operators also ask for a deposit when you sign up, and others do not, which changes the real cost more than a few euros of monthly fee.
On seven criteria, not on the headline fee: city, bike type, minimum term, deposit, what the fee covers, who pays for breakdowns and what happens if the bike is stolen. Two similar monthly prices can hide very different conditions once you read the contract.

This table compares criteria, not brands. We do not publish other operators' prices or conditions here, because they change often and we cannot guarantee a copy on our site stays accurate. Always check them on each company's own website.
It depends on your city and on the bike you need. There is no single best e-bike subscription for the whole country, only local operators with different catalogues. Choose on city and bike type first, then compare the fee, the minimum term and what the fee actually covers.
A bike without a motor will always be cheaper than an electric one. If your ride is short and flat, you may not need pedal assist at all.
Look for a folding bike. It fits in a lift and a hallway, though small wheels and riding position show on longer trips.
You need a cargo bike, not a city bike with a seat bolted on. Weight distribution, braking and parking all change.
Delivery plans are a separate category: more kilometres, more wear and a different contract. They are usually signed separately.
When you live outside the Metropolitan Area of Valencia, because that is the only place we operate today. When you want to end up owning the bike, because a subscription never leads to ownership. And when you need a folding bike for a small flat or the train, because we do not have that model.

Method. We compared the twelve-month cost of six options, one per row of the table: the Clover Solo subscription, the Clover Duo, buying a premium e-bike, running your own car, public transport and renting by the day. The Clover figures are our public rates on the review date, on the 12-month commitment. The reference purchase price is the roughly 5,000 € retail price of a comparable Riese & Müller, the same figure we publish elsewhere on this site.
The car and public transport figures are the default values in our own calculator of what it costs to get around Valencia: 500 € insurance, 400 € servicing and roadworthiness test, 120 € road tax and 1,200 € depreciation per year, plus a 35 € monthly travel pass. They are indicative, editable defaults rather than a measurement, so adjust them to your own case in the calculator. Fuel there is priced from the real average of the day in the province of Valencia.
