One bike for the school run, the errands and the shopping. From 99 € a month, no deposit.
Maintenance, theft cover, GPS and battery swaps are all inside the monthly fee.
The Clover Duo is a compact Riese & Müller Carrie electric cargo bike you rent by the month in Valencia from 99 € a month: one bike for one adult, with a front cargo box for two children and room for the shopping, and maintenance, theft cover, GPS and battery swaps included.
A family cargo bike is an electric bike with a load area built in front of the rider, made to carry children and weight around a city every day. The Carrie is the compact front-box type: barely bigger than an ordinary city bike and just as easy to ride.
Three shapes share the market.
The box trike is the widest and the most stable when parked, but getting it through a doorway is a job in itself.
The long-tail carries children behind you on an extended rack, where you cannot see them while you ride.
The compact front box, which is what Clover runs, keeps the kids in front of you and in view, holds the width of a normal bike and still fits a narrow bike lane.
In practice it replaces the household second car and the short drives to school. Valencia is flat, so the morning drop-off stops depending on finding a parking space, and coming home with the shopping stops being a problem. It pays off for anyone doing the same short trip every day with two small children, less so for anyone whose cycling happens out of town at weekends.
The Duo carries two children in the front box and there is still room for the shopping or the school bags. Children always travel in an approved child seat and a helmet, and only children under 7 may travel as passengers, as our terms and conditions set out.
Because the box sits in front of the rider, you can see the children for the whole trip and talk to them without turning round. The bike is built for one adult: it is not made for two grown-ups pedalling together, and not for a third child riding on the rear rack.
If you need exact figures before you decide, such as the permitted load or the internal dimensions of the box, write to us and we will send them from the manufacturer's own datasheet. We would rather not publish numbers from memory on a web page.
In Valencia the Duo costs from 99 € a month on the twelve-month plan, and 149 € a month if you only want it for one month. There is no deposit and no upfront payment: you pay the first month in advance, and the fee always covers maintenance, insurance, theft cover and GPS.

Buying a premium electric cargo bike costs several thousand euros. The bikes we put on the street are Riese & Müller, and a comparable Riese & Müller retails at roughly 5,000 € in a shop; on top of that purchase price come servicing, replacement batteries, insurance and the bother of reselling it the year your children outgrow it.
With a subscription you buy nothing. You pay a monthly fee, the bike stays ours, and maintenance, breakdowns and theft are our problem. If one day it no longer fits your life, you hand it back. We do not publish a side-by-side comparison against specific purchase prices here, because we have no verified price source to cite.
If you are visiting for a weekend, what you want is a shop that hires bikes by the day or by the hour, built for tourism. If you do the school run and the errands five days a week for months, a monthly fee with maintenance included and the same bike always at home works out better.
Tourist hire is normally charged by the day or the hour, with the bike collected from and returned to a shop, and it is not designed for continuous use. A subscription works the other way round: the bike lives at your address, you use it whenever you like, and there is nothing to book. If an ordinary city bike suits you better than a cargo bike, look at long-term bike rental in Valencia.
Our shortest plan is one month, so it also works for trying a school term or a single trimester without committing to a year.
The Duo is compact for a cargo bike, but it is still longer and heavier than a city bike. It is worth working out in advance where you will keep it, whether your entrance has steps and whether the lift is deep enough, because pushing it without assistance is hard work.
Keeping it at home only works if you have a storeroom, a garage or a street-level patio. Carrying it up stairs is not realistic.
Plenty of lifts in older buildings are too shallow. Measure yours before you decide.
Stationary and unpowered it is heavy to move by hand, especially on a slope or a garage ramp.
It takes more space than a normal bike in a stand-type rack, so in some places you will end up locking it alongside.
It is a bike, not a car: heavy rain and cold weather are noticeable, although in Valencia that is only a handful of days a year.
We serve the Metropolitan Area of Valencia. Outside that zone we cannot service it.
If any of that leaves you unsure, come and see it before you pay anything. It is easier to decide with the bike in front of you than from a picture.
The fee covers the bike, maintenance and quarterly checkups, unlimited battery swaps, theft cover with the replacement handled by Clover, GPS tracking and roadside support if you get stuck. It also carries the seven-day money-back guarantee that applies to our personal plans.
Every normal-use repair plus a quarterly service in our workshop, inside the fee. See the detail on maintenance and battery swaps.
Unlimited swaps. When a battery degrades, we replace it.
Theft cover is included and we handle replacing the bike. The detail is in the terms and conditions.
Every bike carries a tracker, which is what makes recovering a stolen bike possible.
If you stop moving, you call us and we come.
You collect the bike at our Valencia store, with a short intro session so you know how it works.
The Solo and Duo personal plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee: if within 7 calendar days of delivery you have not passed 100 km and the use has been personal, we refund your first monthly payment.
